Our aim in developing Barns was to obtain a product which does not contribute to poor indoor air quality. Many common products emit chemicals into the air which may be bad for human health. As we spend a large portion of our time indoor, it is sensible and necessary to apply detox ingredients.
We realised Barns with 5 selected pigments and one binder. We also consciously decided to abstain from using commonly applied chemical additives, like surface chemistry.
The presence of heavy metals and halogenated compounds in many dyes and pigments, in our opinion, is ecologically not justifiable. As a consequence, on possible disposal routes of Barns no toxic substances are released, e.g. potential dioxins during incineration or environmentally harmful residues during a recycling process.
Barns contains FSC certified paper and is produced in Germany with renewable energy.
Barns wallpaper is inspired from the barns of our grandparents. The barn symbolises self-sustaining, storing communities. The original north side of a barn in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was taken for the design.
Barns is available in two colours: green and purple.
Test-prints
We find it a pity to throw our test-prints away. Therefore we are selling our Barns pilot production rolls at a reduced price of 29,00 € per roll. A roll is 10m long and has a width of 53cm.
